Female Friendly ran a poll, asking ladies which style of watch they like on men. The replies were surprisingly detailed (or unsurprising, taking the view that women are fussy): the general consensus, regardless of what the watch was used for, was ‘not too big’.

A few girls said it didn’t really matter as long as the timepiece was ‘worn with confidence’. Gold watches, especially gold and digital, were a massive no-no, unless they're trying to pull off the gangster / twat / East London retro-chic look. Solid metal-based bands were also met with disgust: 

“Apart from the obvious over-sized look-at-how-big-mine-is type, I don’t like ones with solid bands for straps – surely these are actually bracelets?” says Cat.  While Izzy, 31, hates “really over-sporty watches on guys who have clearly never done anything more strenuous than lift a kebab and a pint glass at the same time”. 

So what does that leave? Not much really: the understated, silver-linked or leather straps, not-too-big, not-too-small, not-too-flashy and definitely NOT worn over the cuff look seems best. The Tag is a great watch for most men: the designs are, for the most part, sleek and simple and they give the impression of image awareness without being too wanky.
