Chopard Creates A Fifth Watch In Honor Of Jacky Ickx
Aug 09, 2011With the 5th Edition limited production model now released I assume that that the first four editions sold pretty well. Done in a Mille Miglia style case, this Classic Racing watch is about 42.5mm wide and available in steel or 18k rose gold. While the case and overall demeanor of the watch is all "Mille Miglia," the Jacky Ickx models have separated themselves by having tri-compax oriented chronograph subdial layouts and a big date indicator under 12 o'clock. Plus, following in the foot steps of the 4th Edition Jackie Ickx Chopard watch, the hour register for the chronograph measures a full 24 hours - not just 12 hours. This of course is in honor of Jacky Ickx and the Le Mans 24 hour race.

Q: I have this Chopard Dual Tec watch that I haven't used in a while. It's an ETA automatic, no third hand. I used it yesterday and it was working fine... when I took it off it stopped running and I wore it today the whole day and it seem not running anymore. Is there anyone here who might have an idea how much does it normally cost to have it serviced or fixed?
A: That depends upon where it is serviced and exactly what is wrong with it. I own only one Chopard, but the brand is good. It was founded in 1860 by Ulysse Chopard. Karl Schufele bought it from the last Chopard in 1968, and now his kids run it: Karl Frederick and lovely Caroline who is married to the owner of De Grisogono watchmakers. Chopard has been making some of its own movements the past few years after using mostly Frederic Piguet, ETA and Jaeger-LeCoultre ones for years. Check your local phonebook for watch repairmen. I know several good ones here in SF, and I have dealt with some online while travelling. Try the website "genasvintage watches" run by Gennady Lubinski of New Hampshire. he charged me $500 for servicing a Vacheron constantin, but the factory wanted $1650. The price for a Chopard with ETA 2892 A1 movement should be much less, unless the trouble is major. many things cause watches to stop running. I would gues that if nothing major is wrong, your watch can be serviced for $200-$300 or so.
Q: I saw this beautiful Chopard watch in the recent October issue of Elle magazine. It was silver, it had diamonds around the round part, and it had diamonds in the midle that move around as you move.
the backround was pearlish.

NO FAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: If you still have the magazine, check the back couple pages in their where to buy section. Every magazine has it.
Unless it was just on random page...
