Why is it that Alain Ducasse can’t write it in New York?
Do not get me wrong, I love Alain Ducasse cuisine … in Monte-Carlo and in Paris.
I loved Alain Ducasse at Essex Accommodate in New York. The food was excellent. Overpriced? Not in fact. The second NYC restaurant of Alain Ducasse’s to make inaccessible was Mix. Ancient in July, I decided to go “24-hour Ducasse:” Adour at the St Regis firstly, then Benoit.
THE AMBIANCE
The rare décor by David Rockwell, strategically positioning the rooms with a aggregation of wine coolers full of prominent bottles, the subdued elegance of the patrons (a gentleman not wearing a tie was whisked off to the furthest corner of the dining cell and seated facing the wall … ecstasy forbid we see him), a glass of crisp vin de champagne, put my three guests and I, in an Astor-like tone.
THE WINE
Alain Ducasse wanted Adour to be a wine-centric restaurant. Unfortunately, that non-stop the sommelier, oh sorry the wine concert-master, was either ill or out of town … but having invited wine aficionados, we managed judgement, in the register-like wine roster, a great Russian River Pinot noir at a price somewhat less than the rest of the breakfast.
THE FOOD
When Alain Ducasse formerly larboard the Essex House, the fashion was not yet Plats Canailles. Plats Canailles: cervelle, langue, ris de veau, fromage de tete, boudin et andouillettes (brains, saccharine breads, pork’s head pate, blood sausage, and pork tripe sausage). The under the weather of food that had you confronted your children with a decade ago, they would have in the offing rather eaten the family bunny. But Alain Ducasse has clear to reconquer New York and, in New York, what less ill way than to please the crowd … and the edibles critics?
