A log car on display outside the Kaatza Station Museum is once again fully loaded. Volunteers deliver the wood that was donated by TimberWest. Although the new logs were obtained some time ago, the project had been delayed due to weather.

• A well-loved elementary teacher is saying goodbye to the classroom after nearly three decades working with students in Lake Cowichan.

Mike Ward finishes work at Palsson Elementary School after 29 years of teaching in the Cowichan Valley, but says his move into retirement hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

“It feels more like I’m heading off for a summer holiday. But I think in September is when I’ll really start to notice that,” he said.

In 2008 Ward won Governor General’s Award For Excellence in teaching.

• A group of Cowichan Lake golfers has raised more than $6,000 toward breast cancer research.

Held at March Meadows Golf Club last week, the Golf Fore the Cure event saw eight teams hit the links to support the Canadian Cancer Society.

Q: I have a Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk blue angels watch and was wondering if it would be safe to use in the water? I mean like chlorinated water at pools and water parks as well as lakes and rivers that I swim in often. What about the ocean? Any help would be appreciated!! thank you!

A: If you still have the owners manual, it should tell you how water resistant the watch is. How deep it can go in water, etc. But I checked the Citizen web site below. All the Blue Angle Skyhawk watches that were listed (5) gave a water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet). It shouldn't hurt your watch to wear it in anything that won't hurt you.

My boy friend is a watch lover, he loves unique watches. I want to gift him one of these watches, since he was mentioning about skyhawk watches, but not sure which one to get and where to get it from at good price? can someone please help
been surfing at amazon and other places..forgot to mention one important fact that i need to order it today and get it tomorrow anyhow, cuz its his birthday tomorrow.
