Q: I'm allergic to "cheap" metal earrings, and the only ones I've found I've been able to wear lately are white gold, or gold earrings. I'm getting my nose pierced in a few days, and I'm wondering if it's going to be worth the extra money to get a nicer stud. Or rather, is it necessary.

A: It's very rare (close to impossible) to be allergic to surgical grade stainless steel, which is what most piecing places use. Just make sure you go to a reputable piercing parlor with an autoclave and sterile needles, not some mall store like Claire's that uses a gun and base metal jewelry.

Q: I got this pair of swarovski white gold plated earrings a while ago and i really like them. I've also never worn them. Even after telling my sister that she can't wear them to her prom because she's been nothing but rude to me, just as she was about to get into the limo, I saw them in her ears and ofcourse by then it was too late. I'd like to disinfect them without damaging the gold. How can I do that?
