Skyrocketing Price of Gold Has West Virginians Emptying Out Their Jewelry Boxes
Aug 23, 2011CHARLESTON -- All that glitters at the Kanawha Coin shop in Charleeston is gold. "This lot here, I paid a little over $1,000 for," said Scott Burger with Kanawha Coin Shop in Charleston.
"This particular lady said it was just stuff laying in her jewelry box that she never wore and she knew that the metals were high right now. So she thought it was just a good time to get rid of it," said Burger.
Business is booming for gold dealers. Doug Bumgardner has run the Kanawha Coin shop since 1977.
"This started a year ago when things started to develop internationally, politically worldwide ... the world economy was going ... all of them were fiat currencies," said Bumgardner.
But Bumgardner has seen it happen before when the price of gold skyrocketed in the 70s. People were emptying out their jewelry boxes to make some money. And, it's happening again.

A: Don't know where you live, so I'll list what I've found.
I'm not sure what the other poster is talking about, but they do make little cupcake toppers that look similar - you could carefully cut off the little platform she stands on. She looks about the same to me, but you could even glue on a little lace or mesh or tulle to give her skirt a little something special.
