Here we have a mens vintage 1976 Bulova Accutron tuning fork watch with
the cal 2191.10 later movement that appears to use just one coil and tuning
fork. The dial is mint and the movement is in clean working condition.
Unfortunately the case has seen better days with wear to the gold plated
finish and some pitting/nibbles around the closure.
The
gold plated case has a stainless steel back with a screw-down ring to
secure the caseback. As I've said, there is siginficant plating loss/damage
and while the back does secure, it isn't threading all the way around
as there are some nibbles out of this area of the caseback.
The
original (not refinished) dial has a gold ground with Roman markers and
black hands. It is in mint condition with no damage or imperfections and
markers and hands looking fresh as new. The acrylic crystal has some very
minor surface scratches but no siginficant scratches or any cracks or
other damage so can be polished out to perfect very easily.
The cal 2191.10 tuning fork movement appears in excellent condition with
all finishes looking bright and fresh with no visible dirt, damage or
corrosion. It hums away and sounds right, and runs well and keeps good
time. The only issue is that it can take a couple of trys to start it
again after hacking but I think this is just due to the battery being
a little thin for the watch so it isn't held very firmly in place. Setting
is smooth and accurate and the timekeeping was good over a day's test.
I won't supply a battery with this one but it's guaranteed to hum and
run (possibly after a little fiddling) or I'll refund your money.
The crown is the original Bulova branded gold plated crown in excellent
condition.
No
band with this one.
This could be worn as is as an interesting daily wearer, or be great for
parts or a case swap. As the dial is mint and the movement functions,
a simple case swap could yield you a great Accutron. Could also be used
for parts or movement for the other mens Accutron I'm offering but you'd
have to check the compatibility of the later model. If you're an Accutron
fan please see my other listings.

35mm wide, 41mm top-to-bottom and about 10mm thickness.

Payment,
shipping and conditions
What
to do at the end of the auction
Contact is required within 3 days of close of auction and
payment within 7 days. Any other arrangement is by mutual
agreement so contact me if there is any problem.
How do I pay?
Preferred methods of payment are electronic funds transfer
(or direct account payment to a branch of Bendigo Bank) for
Australian buyers, or PayPal (in $AU or $US at my bank's
buying rate) for overseas buyers. My banking details are available
via bank deposit express after the auction close.
I will also accept AUD cheques or postal orders, but at least
3 days will be required to clear cheques and any additional
fees incurred will be the responsibility of the buyer.
Shipping
Standard shipping is by registered mail in Australia, or by
standard air mail for overseas. I am also happy to ship in
any other way you may wish with the following provisos - all
costs are covered by the buyer + $2AU to cover materials,
shipping for items paid by PayPal must use signed for delivery
and any arrangements for pick-ups by couriers etc are made
by the buyer and agreed with me. I cannot be held responsible
for costs incurred if you arrange a courier pick up and I
am not available at time of pick-up. Standard Australian registered
mail is insured up to $100, and insurance to $100 is included
in the international shipping price but recommend insurance
to the full value of the watch. I can provide quotes for additional
insurance and I will not be held responsible for underinsured
items missing or damaged in transit. All items are carefully
packed so they will not be damaged in normal transit conditions.
Please allow a few days for shipping as I'm sometimes away
or have crazy work deadlines.
Warranties
This item is genuine and as described.
In the event of a return and refund, the buyer must contact
me in advance of the return (within 7 days of receipt), and
return postage is the responsibility of the buyer. Please
note that no vintage watches are claimed to be water resistant
even if they are marked 'waterproof' or 'water resistant'
and no returns or warranty claims will be accepted as a result
of water penetration. Please also note that if a watch is
sold as unserviced it may need servicing in the future (which
could be sooner or later) and you should factor this into
the price. When a watch is sold unserviced my guarantee is
limited to what is stated in the description - usually that
the watch will be working as described on receipt - but precise
timekeeping and ongoing reliability are not guaranteed on
unserviced items.
